BONNY BERRYMAN IS AWARDED THE WARREN KRESS OUTSTANDING NORTH DAKOTA GEOGRAPHY TEACHER AWARD AND GERALDEEN RUDE AND SARAH NORDBY ARE RECOGNIZED FOR OUTSTANDING SERVICE

The North Dakota Geographic Alliance has awarded the Warren Kress Outstanding North Dakota Geography Teacher Award to Bonny Berryman who is retiring from teaching Social Studies at Minot’s Erik Ramstad Middle School. At the same time the Alliance awarded Geraldeen Rude and Sarah Nordby with plaques of recognition for their work with Bonny Berryman in developing and implementing the joint North Dakota Geographic Alliance-North Dakota Agriculture in the Classroom “Creative Ways to Plant the Seeds of Change” project. That project was initiated in the early 1990s and over a period of almost ten years resulted in the development of two curriculum books containing numerous lesson plans, workshops offered throughout North Dakota and at national conferences, and recognition in the form of national awards. The Seeds of Change project was one of the driving forces that helped the North Dakota Geographic Alliance achieve many of its mid and late 1990 successes. Bonny Berryman, Geraldeen Rude and Sarah Nordby worked as a team in developing and implementing the project. To recognize the importance of the team’s contributions to the North Dakota Geographic Alliance the three team members were invited to conduct a special “Creative Ways to Plant the Seeds of Change” workshop as part of the North Dakota Geographic Alliance 2006 Annual Meeting.
